Harold Lee Utts

Harold L. Utts of Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on March 7, 2017. He was born on October 30, 1920 in Blain, PA, the son of Edward Z. and Ruth Simm Utts. Buck was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Juniata College, Drew Theological Seminary and Columbia University School of Social Work. He worked for many years as the Director of Social Services for Child and Family Services in Buffalo, New York and was proud of his accomplishments as a professional social worker.

Buck was married to the late Janet R. (Holcomb) for 70 years. He is survived by a sister, Betty (Don) Burkett of Altoona, and daughters Martha L. (Steve) Jones of Mechanicsburg PA, Sandra L. Cardinal of Buckland MA, and Rebecca R. (Tony) Hamilton of Kenosha WI.  He is also survived by grandchildren Erin Chick, Shawn Cardinal, Brian Polak and Kate (Bob) Keenan and great-grandchildren Evelyn Chick, Griffin and Brooke Cardinal and Lilah and Jack Harold Keenan.

Buck and Janet lived in East Aurora, NY for over 40 years and were active in their community in many ways. Following his retirement, Buck volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, the East Aurora Historical Society, Graycliff, and the Roycroft Inn. He loved working with wood, gardening, and later doing chair caning and weaving.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his honor to Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
