Ruth A. Bowers

Ruth A Bowers, formerly of Lewistown, PA, died peacefully at the Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg PA on January 15th , 2015 at the age of 87.

Ruth is survived by children, William (Mary Ann) of Enola, PA and Donald (Susan) of Indiana, PA, Grandchildren Susan Bowers Pochet (Marc), Amy Bowers, Heather Bowers and Ryan Bowers, two great-grandchildren, Emily and Benjamin Pochet, and sister-in-law Sara Trimpey. She was preceded in death by husband J. William Bowers, parents Clarence and Jenny Trimpey, and brother Ray Trimpey.

Ruth was born on July 11, 1927 in Jenners, PA. She graduated from Boswell High School in 1945. Ruth formerly managed the snack bar at the Lewistown Jamesway. She loved talking with people, cooking, growing her flowers, tomatoes and little green onions.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Lewistown, PA for 55 years.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 24th at 2 PM at Mt Zion United Methodist Church, 4685 Mt Zion Drive, Enola, PA. Visitation will be from 1 PM until time of service. Pastor Rick Bender, Grace United Methodist Church, Lewistown, will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruth’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Bridges at Bent Creek at 2100 Bent Creek Boulevard, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; or Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan Street, Lewistown, PA 17044. The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Bridges at Bent Creek for their years of love, care and dedication; also to the caregivers of Rosa’s Team and Gentiva Hospice for their recent love and care.  

Inurnment in the Somerset Memorial Park will be private.

I count it a blessing to have gotten to know Ruth even though it was only in the last years of her life! What a sweet lady!
Our prayers are with the family at this time of grieving! No matter how long we are privileged to have our parents...we are never ready to let them go!
