James L. McKelvey 84 passed away suddenly at UPMC West Shore hospital August 9, 2020.
Jim was born September 16, 1935 in Crawford County PA to the late George W. and Naoma (Reagles) McKelvey.
He grew up in Meadville then Springfield PA and graduated from Springfield High School in 1953.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Germany and Africa during the Korean Conflict through 1958 and was a pilotless bomber controls technician.
After his service he was a sheet metal mechanic at Piaseki Helicopter Corporation, studied Industrial Psychology at Penn State University where he met his wife Eileen (Edwards). They were married in Syracuse, NY. September 10, 1960. He was also a commodity manager at Defense Industrial Supply Center, psychology technician at General Medical Research Hospital, psychology research assistant at Veterans Hospital. He retired from a long career as Vice president for special services at AES/PHEAA in 1995.
Jim was an avid golfer and wood turner who loved nature and his family.
He is survived by his wife Eileen, two daughters A. Christyne Bliton (Matt) and Janet H. McKelvey, four grandsons Ryan, Nate and John Bliton and Nick Provenza. He has a brother David A. McKelvey (Sandy), nieces Amy Buck (Rick), Heather Evans (Rodd), and Katy Sanderson (George) and a nephew David A. Jr. (Linda). Grand nieces and nephews are Nick, Jessica, McKenzie, Roddy, Chloe Jane, Nicole, Patrick, and Olivia.
Jim was predeceased by his sister in law Diane Sherwood (Keith) and survived by sister-in-law Brenda Szymanoski (Ray), brothers-in-law Tom Edwards, Darren Edwards ( Faith), Bob Edwards (Mary) and many nieces and nephews.
