Max E. McDonald, Sr., 86, went to join his Lord and Savior on February 7, 2019.  He was born on March 4, 1932, to the late William McDonald Sr. and Martha Dressler McDonald.

Max graduated from Greenwood High School in Millerstown, PA.  He retired from Quaker Oats where he was a machinist for 26 years.  Max was active in his church and traveled three times to Africa on mission trips.  He and his wife traveled to China, with him serving as a consultant to Quaker Oats when they built a plant in Shanghai.  His joy of traveling also took him to Australia, Egypt, and Antarctica.

He was an avid fan of Penn State Football and The New York Yankees.  In his free time, he loved going fishing with his boys.

Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Florene (Hockenbrock), two sons, Max Jr. (Wanda) of Grantville; James (Cathy) of Lancaster; a brother Bill of Carlisle; 5 grandchildren; 7 great- grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Mt. Zion Methodist Church, 4685 Mt. Zion Dr., Enola, PA 17025.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the McDonald family.
