EMERY L. CHRISTOPHER
1921-2023

Emery, known as Chris Christopher, left us on December 9th, 2023. He was 102 when he passed, my mom’s baby brother!

Chris was born on a farm in Agar, SD and was the youngest of 8 children. It was a very tough life and there wasn’t much money but always food on the table. Christmas often saw the children each receiving an orange and some nuts.  His father and mother were children of Danish and Dutch immigrants respectively.

Emery left home at age 17 in 1938 to join the Navy. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA where he met his wife, Doris Luff, in the early 1940s, just before WW II. They were married for more than 60 years.

They had a baby girl, Suzanne; followed by their son, Richard. The family lived all over the US. That was the life of a salesman at DuPont in those days and he loved it. There was no better job for my gregarious uncle. They were in CA, FL, NC and PA.

Emery was predeceased by his wife, Doris and their daughter Suzanne. He is survived by his sister, Iona Price of Gainesville, FL and his son Rick of Willow Street, PA.

Chris will be missed by all that knew him. He was a real character and loved to make people laugh he never met a stranger.

We will all miss having my Uncle walking amongst us.

An Uncle is a blessing given twice, they love like a parent and behave like a friend.

Uncle Chris. You will be in our hearts forever.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Christopher family.
