I knew John by his childhood nickname “Buck” throughout the 1970’s. We were neighbors and friends. I can’t begin to count how many hot Summer days were spent playing ball, riding bikes, and walking all over the Susquehanna River and Conodoguinet Creek catching every imaginable kind of fish, that we’d then take home and clean in the back yard so his Nan or my Mom could fry them up for dinner. And then there were the endless stories about “camp”, which as I recall was somewhere in Perry county. Buck was always up for an outrageous prank, and there were plenty. As it turned out, our lives took divergent paths in 1978, and I never saw him again. It’s no surprise that he turned out to be such an avid animal and nature lover. I’ve often wondered what became of him. I’m glad his life turned out well and he ended up in Perry County with someone special. My sincere condolences to the family and friends.
Johnny has our second cousin and every time we saw each other his greeting was “Yo Cus!” Although we didn’t see each other much throughout the year when we did he always made time to catch up and ask about our families. When we see the deer in our yards or a commercial on tv about hunting it has and always will remind us of his stories of hunting. Our condolences and love goes out to Sue as her entire life has changed loosing her beloved soulmate, Johny. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you now and forever.
Love, Susie Barrick and family (George & Eyvonne Stuck’s youngest daughter).
