Share Obituary!

Evelyn Doris Amspacher, 79, of Landisburg, passed away on November 3, 2025 at Letort Spring Nursing and Rehab, Carlisle PA.

Born August 11, 1946, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Evelyn Doris “Dolly” Shetz. She was the widow of Willie Hitt, Bill Wheeler, and Noah Amspacher.

Doris was a member of New Hope UCC.

She fondly remembered fun times shared with her sister and brothers growing up in Philadelphia and shouting “Yo!” outside of their home to chat with friends living nearby and walking to many shops. On trick or treat night, one neighbor gave each child one Life Saver off a roll of hard candies, which she thought was so funny. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964.

Doris loved being a Mom and Grammy and enjoyed spending time with all her family. She looked forward to hosting holidays and planned an Easter egg hunt and Halloween Hootenanny each year, as well as making many kinds of Christmas cookies.

She had worked in housekeeping alongside her husband, Noah, at the Perry Health Center for many years. Doris attended the Central Perry Senior Center and participated in tai chi and line dancing, collected sheep, crocheted hats, scarves, and washcloths, and liked going to restaurants and shopping.

Surviving are her children, Gary (Christina) Amspacher, Terry (Chris) Hitt, Deborah (Todd) Gingrich, Teresa (Todd) Mitten, Dawn (Tim) Hostetter, and Amanda Seiders; son-in-law, Craig Telesha; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jo Hitt; her sister, Linda Staudenmayer; sister-in-law, Nova Stonesifer; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a son, Douglas Scott Hitt; a daughter, Melissa Telesha; and her brothers, Howard and Joseph Shetz.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 11AM at New Hope UCC, 108 S. Carlisle St., Landisburg, PA 17040, with Pastor Josh Craley officiating. Viewing will be from 10AM-11AM at the church. Interment will follow at Blain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, buy a box of Tastykakes and enjoy in Doris’ memory. Donations may be made to the Central Perry Senior Center.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Amspacher family.
