Earl B. Bankes, Jr. (Junior), 84, of Shermansdale, Pennsylvania, formerly of Duncannon, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
Born July 20, 1941, in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, Junior was a quiet, gentle man known for his hard work, deep integrity, unwavering faith in God & the mischievous sparkle that never left his eye.
Junior worked for many years as a mechanic for Capital Trailways before retiring. Whatever he did, he did with steadiness, honesty & pride. Junior was a devoted fisherman and a jack of all trades spending many hours working on his tractors or whatever car he had at the time. Even in his later years, Junior remained active, strong & deeply connected to the people & places he loved.
Above all, Junior was a devoted husband to his beloved wife for 41 years, Sharon, who went to be with the Lord 20 years ago. He loved his family fiercely & without reservation but being “Pap” was one of his greatest joys. His daughters & grandchildren brought out his softest smile & proudest moments. Nothing meant more to him than watching them grow, cheering them on, & simply having them near.
Junior is survived by his daughters: Tina Jimmo & Melissa Kreiger; His brother: Merrill Bankes; His sisters: Rhoda(Dolly) Comp & Joehanna (Sis) McNerney; His grandchildren: Sarah Boles, Kaitlin Melville, William Fisher, Jr, Tiffany Kreiger, Brittany Kreiger, Katy Kreiger, & Mattie Fox. Uncle June was one of the best
men I’ve ever known. He was always there when you needed a hand. I was just discharged from the service when I was busted up pretty bad by a drunk driver. No car no money and tired of staring at the walls. Uncle June came over and took me out fishing. Just what I needed. Not long after I picked up a 100 dollar car, that needed a lot of work, Uncle June showed up out of no where and had that car road worthy in no time at all. He wouldn’t take a cent for all the work he did. I hunted and fished with uncle June many times growing up, it was always fun even if you didn’t catch or bag anything.. He was a good man and I loved him dearly.
You will be missed Uncle Jun, I’m Sure Bill was also there to greet you in your passing. He always loved your passion for your Indian.
I remember lots of summer cookouts at my pappy’s home in New Cumberland and my Uncle Sparky was always there with all his wife’s family members. We all enjoyed having him in our lives. He was cracking jokes or goofing around with the adults. He will be sorely missed by all. Peace be with you, Uncle Sparky
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you Tina and your entire family.
