Shannon Leigh Donofrio-Rittner, 53, of Enola, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 17, 2026.

Born on January 8, 1973 she was the beloved daughter of Ernest and Diana Donofrio.

She graduated from East Pennsboro High School and furthered her academic career at West Chester University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of the Spanish Language. She spent her working career employed by IBM, Hilti and Grainger Corporation.

In her free time, she enjoyed being a mother and guiding her children to be their best selves. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. Shannon was known for her chocolate peanut butter cakes and was expected to bring one along everywhere she went. Visiting Spanish speaking countries was also something that brought her joy.

Shannon was truly the most caring and giving person. She immediately brightened any room she walked into. People naturally gravitated to her and wanted to talk to her. She radiated beauty and grace. She truly was the North Star of her family. She was the brightest star and they navigated this earth by following her. She radiated beauty, grace, intelligence, caring and patience. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her.

Shannon is survived by her loving husband, Harold James Rittner; children, Jonas Michael Rineer, Lucas Matthew Rineer and Sofia Dyann Rittner; parents, Ernest and Dianna Donofrio; brother, Shawn Donofrio (Devanna); niece, Bella and nephews, Dominic and Jordan.

A celebration of life will be held Friday April 3, 2026 from 3-8 pm at Dukes Riverfront Bar and Grille, 313 S. Front St. Wormleysburg, PA 17043.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s or the Make a wish foundation.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Donofrio-Rittner family.

  11. My heart is broken. I will miss my beautiful friend, her spirit and love. I will forever hold her in my heart. I have no words that can help with this great loss, but my prayers of comfort and peace are with her family. Shannon is the very definition of a giving, loving person. She always put everyone else’s needs above her own. I have loved being a part of her life over these 30 years and will continue to be reminded of our friendship by the small things… a song, anything Spanish, a breakfast place, a good book, biscotti…te quiero, amiga mia, y te echare de menos.

  12. My deepest sympathies to you and your family Earnie (my old classmate) having experienced the loss of my daughter in 1986. May your faith comfort you in your time of grief, as mine did for me.

  13. Shannon truly was a shining light. Our friendship spanned years, and no matter how much time had passed, she always greeted me with the most beautiful smile and a hug. She had a way of warming your heart – instantly.

Some of my most cherished memories are of Shannon as a mother. She radiated love, grace, and a nurturing spirit that was unmatched and touched everyone around her.

She will be forever missed, but her light will never dim.

My deepest condolences to her husband, Harry, her beautiful children, her parents, brother, and all of her extended family and friends.

While we may never understand why God called Shannon home so early, may we find comfort in knowing she is watching over all of us.

    All my love.

  14. Our sincere and deepest sympathies to her husband Harry ,her parents Diane and Ernie, her brother Shawn and children Jonas, Lucas and Sofia. Love, Joyce and Al.
