Christopher George Smith, 58, of Enola, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 21, 2026. He was born on March 18, 1968, in York, Pennsylvania.

With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Chris—a devoted husband, loving father, loyal son and brother, proud veteran, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Chris served honorably in the United States Navy, faithfully answering the call to serve his country. His military service reflected his courage, dedication, and selflessness—qualities that carried through every aspect of his life long after his uniform was folded.

Chris was a man who showed up. He was present in the moments that mattered most—through countless softball games (missing only two over fourteen years), late-night phone calls during difficult times, and the everyday moments that quietly defined a life of love and devotion. To his children, he was their biggest fan, loudest supporter, mentor, and best friend. He encouraged them to follow their dreams—supporting them in ways both big and small, even when it meant stepping outside his comfort zone. Though he may not have loved camping, he never missed a single scouting trip, choosing instead to be there for his son every step of the way. His love was steady, present, and sacrificial.

His children knew him as a constant source of encouragement and strength—someone whose smile could light up a room, who was loved by everyone he met, and who touched countless lives. More than anything, he gave them a deep sense of confidence, reminding them that they were never alone and always supported. Chris raised his children to be strong together, grounded in faith, and confident in the knowledge that death is not the end and that families can be together forever.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Chris drew strength from his faith and the promise of the plan of salvation. The family finds comfort in the words of the Savior: “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” (John 11:25, KJV). Though his passing came after many years of health challenges, they hold fast to the hope that he has completed his earthly trials and now rests in peace—free from pain, and enjoying the simple joys he loved—like music, laughter, and the things that brought him happiness.

Chris had a deep love for history and was a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Baltimore Orioles. He was known for his resilience, loyalty, and the way he made others feel seen and supported. In the days since his passing, the family has found comfort in seeing him through the eyes of others and realizing just how deeply he was loved.

Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel (Soward) Smith; his son, Nicholas Smith; his daughter, Savannah Smith; his mother and stepfather, Georgia and Edward Wilt; his brother, Eric Smith (Stephanie); and his step-brother, Brian Wilt (Cindy). He was deeply loved by extended family members and a wide circle of friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap at 9AM on Monday, May 4, 2026. A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 216 Skyline Drive, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania 17050, at 10:30AM on Monday, May 4, 2026. A memorial service will also be held in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the family’s convenience.
The family requests that attendees at any of the services wear something pink in honor of Chris; it is his favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rachel Smith for expenses.

The family is profoundly grateful for the prayers, faith, and support that have surrounded them during this time and continues to ask for comfort and strength as they grieve and hold onto the hope they have in Christ.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Smith family.
