Dean B. Mummert of Harrisburg, affectionately known as our beloved Uncle Dean, peacefully passed away Dec 28, 2025, at the age of 89. Born July 5, 1936, he was the son of Paul E. Mummert and Margaret E. (Miller) Mummert. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Frederick M. Mummert, Robert A. Mummert and Charles Mummert. Uncle Dean is survived by his niece Barbara A. Mummert (Bill Purcell), nephew Thomas O. Mummert (Wanda), niece Sherry L. Mummert (Thomas Hager), great-niece Katharine Roberto (Brent Riden), great-nephew Benjamin Mummert (Kelsey), great-nephew Nicholas Roberto (Emily), great-nephew Ehren Hager, great-niece Anna Hager, great-niece Nikkole Purcell, great-nephew Carl Purcell. He was also blessed with a great-great-niece Emelia Mae and 4 great-great-nephews, Gavin, Anderson, Lochlan, and Archer.
Uncle Dean was a kind and generous man who had a great work ethic. He donated regularly to Downtown Daily Bread, Bethesda Mission, Boys Town and several other charities. He was an avid fisherman and earlier in life enjoyed leather work. He was a devoted son and brother who took care of his mother and brother Bob. You could count on a phone call or card on your birthday and he always asked about every child, dog and chicken. He loved his walks at camp and around the neighborhood. He had a calm demeanor and a positive outlook often saying, “It’s easier to be positive”. He was young at heart, playful and had a great sense of humor. He loved being with family and friends and is sincerely missed.
Visitation will be from 10:30am to 11:00am on July 11, 2026 at Sullivan Funeral Home in Enola followed with a service at 11:00am. A celebration of life will take place that afternoon at Wolf Brewing Co, Mechanicsburg from 2pm-5pm.
