Robert E. Chesek, 77, of Norristown PA passed away August 26, 2026. Bob was the son of the late Robert F. and Lillian F. Chesek of Harrisburg PA. He is survived by his companion Marylou Stitt of Horsham PA, daughter Kelly (Eric Milligan) and grandson Billy. Bob is also survived by sister Anita L. Chesek (James McCarthy) and brothers Thomas V. Chesek and Ralph R. Chesek.
Bob was a 1967 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg. He also graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College and West Chester State College with a major in Psychology. Additional post graduate work was performed at West Chester. His career was with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania working at the Pennhurst Center in Phoenixville PA and the Norristown State Hospital in Norristown PA where he specialized in patient quality of life activities.
An avid reader of human behavior books and World War 2 novels were his two favorite reads. Bob participated in adult volleyball as a means to stay fit. As a teenager he weight lifted and was a runner.
Bob was a tinkerer always working to invent things as a boy. One clever item was an automatic morse code sending device which was connected to a neighborhood network that allowed voice and morse transmission to the several friends connected to the network. As an adult Bob earned his FCC Amateur Radio License (Ham Radio) with the callsign KB3QAJ. A noteworthy accomplishment was his completion of all requirements for the Boy Scout Eagle Award. Another interest pursued for many years was as a World War 2 reenactor having participated in many reenactments.
Wonderful son, brother, companion, father, uncle, grandfather and friend.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 11AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church 2800 Paxton Church Road Harrisburg PA 17110. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10AM to 11AM at the church prior to Mass.
Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton at a later date.
