Sammy “Alex” Foy Ballard. 71, of Enola, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, surrounded by family at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA. Sammy was born on September 14, 1950, in Statesboro, GA, to the late Sidney Foy Ballard and the late Lois (Sherrod) Ballard.

Sammy graduated from Marvin Pittman High School, Statesboro GA, in the class of 1969.  He immediately enlisted in the United States Navy upon graduation from high school and served honorably until his retirement in 1989.

Sammy was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Ballard, mother, Lois Ballard, daughter-in-law, Heather Ballard, and his beloved wife, Gladys Ballard.

He is survived by his son Robert “Rob” Ballard, granddaughter Zoey Lesher, step-sons, Garry Cyr, Raymond Cyr, step-daughters, Debbie Oakley, Thresa Cyr, Renee Ketchum, Cindy Cyr-Bishop, and his sisters Charlotte Laircey and Angie Brannen.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Sullivan Funeral Home in Enola, PA. The service and burial will take place at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, in Lebanon, PA, with full military honors, on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

  1. Alex was a good neighbor and friend. He was very giving and appreciative. He was known for his love of peanut butter and hatred of cheese. He would often drop off popsicles or donuts for my daycare kiddos. He was a sweet man who will be missed!

  2. Remember telling us to hit the “rain locker” when we were kids 🙂 Not sure how many may know it was ‘take a shower’. We came full circle at the end. I’ll miss you.
