Anna Shepos, originally of Lower Paxton Township, passed away on November 2, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Anna was born in Paxinos, PA, daughter of Joseph and Dora (Smaletz) Supsic. She attended St. Edward’s High School. In 1944, Anna married Joseph Shepos at St. Joseph’s Church.
She is survived by 5 children; Joanne Nye (Hummelstown), Thomas Shepos (Palmdale, CA), Ann L. Shepos (Camp Hill), Mary Sersch (husband Edward), and Donna Eberts of Harrisburg.
She was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, along with her sister Dorothy Fox and a sister-in-law, Ann Schlagle.
Anna’s greatest joys were her husband, children, grandchildren, church and Council of Catholic Women.
Lovingly called “Gram” she supported her children and grandchildren in events throughout the years.
Anna enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, reading, volunteer work, traveling especially the annual summer vacation to Sea Isle City, NJ with all the family.
Anna was a long-time active member of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church. She served as an Extraordinary Minister, was a visitor to the home bound and retirement home, lector, served on the parish festival committee for 28 years, and greeter before Mass. She felt privileged to serve on the Design Committee for the new church. Anna was a faithful adorer at the perpetual adoration chapel. Later in life she was a member of the Golden Years Club and the Vocation Committee. Anna enjoyed being a volunteer at Hershey Park to help benefit St. Margaret Mary Building fund.
One of Anna’s outstanding contributions was her dedication of more than 50 years with the Council of Catholic Women. Anna served as Parish President, District President and President of Harrisburg Diocesan CCW. In 2006, she was nominated for the National “Our Lady of Good Counsel Award”.
Anna was an active member and Treasurer of the Seton Club. She also served as a Board Member of the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Maryland.
She was a member of the Knights of Columbus #869 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Penn Gardens Civic Club, and a volunteer at the Cardinal Keeler Center as a sacristan.
Anna retired from the Legislative Reference Bureau in the Main Capitol as a Historian. She also retired as a former employee of Sears, where she was a supervisor.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 71 years, six brothers, two sisters, and a great-grandchild.
A viewing will be held at St Margaret Mary Alacoque Church located at 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg, PA on Tuesday, November 8th from 6-8pm and on Wednesday, November 9th from 9:30-10:30 am followed by Mass. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
