Betty Mae (Frock) Kroh

Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.  Betty Mae {Frock} Kroh, 87, loving mother, grandmother and friend died at home surrounded by her children who loved her so much.  Betty was the wife of the late Donald C Kroh of Summerdale and daughter of the late Viola Mae {Barlup} Frock and Irvin T Frock.  She was raised by her grandmother, the late Bertha Mae {Kepford} Barlup, since Betty’s own mother died when she was a small child.  Betty is survived by her children; Cynthia Mae Caswell, Pamela Kay Gutshall, Donald C Kroh, Jr and Eric Samuel Kroh; her grandchildren:  Justin, Jared and Cassidy Kroh, Lindsey Kroh and Chad Gutshall, with a great-granddaughter, Harper Kroh, due in October.

Betty was a cheerleader at West Fairview high school, and she was voted the prettiest girl in her class.  Betty was a compassionate and loving woman.  She loved children and was happiest teaching preschool.  She also loved elderly people and worked in a nursing home. She loved to cut and style friend’s hair and give perms. Her greatest joy was having family and friends for her fabulous meals.

Little did we know that placing Betty in a nursing home would be the cause of her hastened death.  COVID-19 ravaged the nursing home and her family could not visit her for over four months.  Betty had been tested 6 times and was negative.  She died of loneliness, fear, and neglect. We were outside her window daily praying the visitor ban would be lifted.  All we could do was watch her deteriorate.  When it was clear there was no end in sight, the family made the decision to bring her home where she died five hours later…..finally at peace.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Kroh family.

  1. She was a great step sister.so sweet. Sorry we lost touch over the years. I have many fond memories when I came to stay with her and her family durning an emotional and sensitive time durning my teen years. She was a great Mom to her adorable children. Sorry for their loss and pray for them for comfort and peace at this time.
    With Love
