Daniel Franklin Meredith Whitaker Jr., (Bud), devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, dear uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, July 7, 2024.  He was 87.

He was born in Harrisburg, PA to the late Daniel Franklin Meredith Whitaker Sr. and Ruth L. Eslinger Whitaker.

Bud was a graduate of Enola High School, class of 1954.  He attended Findlay College and was a graduate of Weaver Airline School.  He retired from USAir in 1991 after 34 years of service.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 67 years, Marlene (Frey) Whitaker, his son, Dane M. Whitaker (Tammy Kimmel Whitaker), Grandson, Cordell Whitaker (Mackenzie Wentz), Granddaughter, Samantha Whitaker and great-grandson, Cannon Whitaker.  He is survived by his sister Lois Neumayer, predeceased by sisters Flora Straley and Carolyn Myers and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 

Bud’s family was the joy of his life.  He was enormously proud of his son and deeply appreciative of Dane’s devotion to him.  He had a passion for woodworking, building anything from jewelry boxes to houses, including his own.

He was a lifetime member of Enola First Church of God where he served multiple times as youth director.

Visitation will be held at Enola First Church of God, 9 Sherwood Drive, Enola, PA 17025 on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:00am. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Enola First Church of God or Homeland Hospice.
