
Dorothy L. Werner, 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Homeland Center in Harrisburg where she had been living since 2011.
Born on June 26, 1931, she was the daughter of Albert E. and Blanche B. Zimmerman. She was the widow of Earl H. Werner.
She was a graduate of William Penn High School, Harrisburg. She also graduated from Shippensburg University and earned two Bachelors of Science degrees. Dorothy was a retired school psychologist with the Colonial School District in New Castle, Delaware where she resided from 1974-2011.
She was a former member of the Harris Street United Methodist Church and Pine Street Presbyterian Church, both of Harrisburg, as well as the New Castle United Methodist Church, Delaware.
Dorothy had a great love for her many pets throughout the years as well as a love of music, including playing piano and singing in choirs.
Surviving is her sister, Elizabeth Z. Hallman of Harrisburg; 2 nieces, Cheryl M. Hallman of Harrisburg and Nancy Parry and husband David of Harrisburg; 3 nephews, Harry F. Hallman III, Michael E. Hallman and wife Annette, and Stephen W. Hallman, all of Harrisburg. Also surviving is an extended family of cousins, great niece and great nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11AM at Shoops Garden of Rest Cemetery, Harrisburg.
There will be no viewing.
