Dorothy M. Early (Dot), 93, of Mechanicsburg, PA was called home to glory April 3, 2022 at Bethany Village Oaks skilled care unit.  She was born September 15,1928 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Effie (Blouch) and John E. Kling, Sr. She lived in Enola until she moved to Bethany Village Retirement Community cottages in 2002. Dot was married to David M. Early, Sr. for 46 years, prior to his passing in June 1994.

Dot was preceded in death, in addition to her husband and parents, by her brother, John Kling, Jr. and sister, Peggy Thompson both of Enola.

She is survived by her son David Early, Jr (Gilda) of Enola Pa: daughter Danna M. Laminack of Arlington, TN;  3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

After raising her children and caring for several elderly friends, Dot began working at Stephenson’s Florist and became a green house manager. It was the perfect job for Dot because she loved arranging flowers and planting vegetable and flower gardens. She really enjoyed mowing her lawn.

Dot loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Enola and joined Grace Reformed Baptist Church in Camp Hill in April 2012. She enjoyed singing alto in the Zion Lutheran Church choir and the Woman’s Chorus at Bethany.

Dot was an excellent cook and liked making Sunday dinners for her family & friends. She loved playing cards especially Pinochle, reading, working puzzles. Dot enjoyed crocheting, cross stich, sewing & painting and was very active with Bethany’s craft club.

Her Bethany family remembers that she was always smiling, upbeat, never complaining and always ready to pitch in. Be it fundraising or helping her fellow Bethany residents by delivering water to the patients, reading to them, or helping them to eat or comb their hair.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for Dot’s Memorial Service at 11:00 on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Rife Center, 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Interment in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Enola will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dot’s memory to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Bethany Care Assurance Fund, 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Checks should be made out to Bethany Village and write Care Assurance Fund on the memo line.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Early family.
