
Edgar (Ed) N. Pirkey, 89, passed away on June 9, 2020 at Hospice of Central PA, Harrisburg. Ed was born June 26, 1930 in Harrisburg to Nelson F. Pirkey and Averil Pirkey (Lamb).
Ed is survived by his wife Marianna J. (Kell) whom he married in 1953, and by four sons – Harley (Doug) Pirkey, (Deborah) of Lenhartsville, PA; Allan D. Pirkey, (Evelyn) of Middletown, PA; Gregg W. Pirkey of Carlisle, PA; and Timothy N. Pirkey, of Goldsboro, PA; a brother, Donald T. Pirkey (Shirley) of Leola, PA and three grandchildren; Lindsay Link (Pirkey); and Allan’s sons Ian and Kenneth Pirkey.
Ed lived and grew up in uptown Harrisburg and graduated from William Penn High School in1948. He worked at various local companies as sales staff and retired from the former Earl Latsha Lumber Co. in 1992. Ed served in the U. S. Marine Corps in the Korean War, Weapons 1/5. He was a member of the Masons, Perry Lodge #458 and the National Sojourners Harrisburg Chapter #76.
He was preceded in death by parents Nelson and Averil and by a sister, Thelma.
Visitation will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home, Enola, PA from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., June 18, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a future date.
He enjoyed camping, woodworking, fishing, history, and visiting with family and friends and will be missed.
