Elaine Zimmerman passed away in the presence of her loving daughter Kathy, her son-in-law Jack, and her great-grandchildren Samantha, Christopher, and Candace. Elaine was born in Harrisburg on December 16, 1924 to Robert and Adeline Porter. She is preceded in death by her husband Elmer Zimmerman with whom she will be buried. She is survived by grandchildren, Suzanne, Mikel, Melissa and Shawn and great-grand daughter Gillian, who is abroad at school, great-grandson Zack and great-great grandchildren Killian and Korin.
She lived a full life, loved to sing and dance like a butterfly.
“What the caterpillar perceives as the end, to the butterfly is just the beginning.
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed…
We feel lucky to have seen it.
Love is like a butterfly; it goes where it pleases
and pleases wherever it goes.”
‘Come to me, all you who labor and are overburdened, and I will give
you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble
in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy
and my burden light.’
Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 10AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Zimmerman family.
