Share Obituary!

Ellen J. Harner, born April 8, 1944, a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother and great-grandmother, dear sister, aunt, and friend passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at the age of 79.

Ellen was a lot of fun.  She enjoyed playing cards and doing the jitterbug and Hubler Shuffle with her family.  She was an excellent cook and was known for her potato salad, pretzel salad and Sunday Dinners.  If she knew she was getting visitors, she would head to the kitchen to start cooking.  She was also an avid bingo player who could watch her cards, as well as the cards of her friends sitting near her, often telling them they were “set”.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Larry M. Harner, her father and mother, Arthur and Anna Hubler (Kellerman), brothers Arthur Hubler, Jr. and Ronald Hubler; sisters Carole Masser, Fae Geist, Donna Tobias, Deanna Frantz, and Janet Perchinski, and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Dippery (Roy) and Carol Harner; grandson Adam Deitrich (Nicole); great-grandsons Aydan Deitrich and Austin Deitrich; brother Bill Hubler (partner Evelyn); sisters Deb Fetterholf (Louis) and Judy Hubler (John Uroskie); and numerous nieces and nephews.  She will be deeply missed.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Riverview Memorial Gardens, 3776 Peters Mountain Road, Halifax, PA 17032.  A celebration of life and refreshments will follow at Halifax Area Ambulance-Rescue Association, 31 Bunker Hill Road, Halifax, PA 17032.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dauphin-Middle Paxton Fire Company, 10 Elizabeth Avenue, Dauphin, PA  17018.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Harner family.
