Harry R. Ritter, Jr, 78, originally from Harrisburg, transitioned into eternal life on July 6, 2016 at Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA.

He was born in Harrisburg on February 22, 1938.  Harry was the son of the late Harry Ritter Sr., and is survived by his mother, Frances (Pugliese) Ritter, and his wife, Wenda (Fascik) Ritter who he was married to for 58 years.  He was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Ritter and his nephew, Matthew Ritter.  

Harry graduated from Catholic High in Harrisburg in 1956.  Harry was the school’s first four year letterman in football.  He continued his football career at prep school before marrying the love of his life, Wenda.  During his seventy-eight years of life, Harry worked making deliveries for Bachman’s Pretzels, at Hall’s Motor, and St. Johnsbury Trucking Company where he retired from as a Teamster.  Harry attended church at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Harrisburg, Harry loved to cook and was an avid Bishop McDevitt and Notre Dame fan, but there was nothing he loved more than his family. 

In addition to Harry’s wife, Wenda, he is survived by two brothers, Barry (wife Sandy) of Mechanicsburg and Robert (wife Kathy) of Harrisburg.  He is also survived by one daughter, Cathy Kelly (husband Robert), Colorado Springs, CO and two sons, Randy Ritter (wife Carol), Steelton and Michael Ritter (wife Kelley), Camp Hill.  He is survived by six grandchildren, Jennifer Rother (husband Joshua), Omaha, NE, Danielle Ritter, Steelton, Doug Ritter (wife Monique), Harrisburg, Melissa Ritter, Steelton and Paige and Madison Ritter, Camp Hill. He is also survived by five great grandchildren, Sawyer and Sullivan Rother, Romen and Domenic Ritter and Jayce Ritter and several nieces and nephews.  

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Green Ridge Village, Newville.  

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ritter family.
