Leon Patrick Farrell 90, entered into eternal rest on Sunday afternoon at home.  Surviving are his wife of 27 years Mildred, two sons Dennis and wife Naomi of Japan, Brian and wife Renee of Enola, two daughters Karen and husband Jesse Waltersdorff of Mechanicsburg, Wendy and husband Peter Dows of New Cumberland and two step-children James Miller and wife Stephanie of Carlisle and Joanne and Bill Metzger of Harrisburg.  He is also survived by three sisters Mary Roberts of New Cumberland, Betty Wilson and Cecilia Farrell both of Harrisburg, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Leon was born in 1926 to James M. and Margaret McGarvey Farrell.  He was predeceased by brothers John, James, William, Edward, Richard and sister Rosemarie Poticher.  He retired from the United States Navy Ship Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg after 35 years service and from the Central Dauphin School District after 5 years service.  He fought in WWII with General Patton’s Third Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic action in addition to a Purple Heart Medal as a result of being wounded in action.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and regularly attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Enola.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 12PM-1PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Enola.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1PM.

Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Farrell family.
