Les Powell, 84, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022. He was born April 14, 1938 to the late Clara (Bonesteel) and Preston Powell. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gayle R. Powell.
Les is survived in addition to his wife by his daughters, Dianna Renard and Stacy Powell, his sons, Jeffrey Scott Powell, Sr. and Brandon Scott Powell and wife Ruth, his grandchildren, Lindsey Renard, Jodi Brown, Jeffrey Scott Powell, Jr., and Jamaica Sophia Powell, and his great-grandchildren, Asher and Micah Brown.
Les attended Lemoyne High School and Penn State University, joined the Army, and was stationed at Tripler Army Hospital in Oahu, Hawaii.
Les worked for the Sentinel, United Telephone, and was a Staff Writer for the Patriot News for 42 years.
Les was a lifelong Yankees baseball fan and enjoyed going to Harrisburg Senators baseball games with his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to River of God Church, 747 Wertzville Rd., Enola, PA 17025 or Landmark Baptist Church, 17 E. Simpson St., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
Les was a marathon runner, founded the Harrisburg Marathon, and was a member of the Road Runners.
He ran the Great Race.
