Paul R. Herrold, 79, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (formerly of Herndon, Pennsylvania) passed away peacefully at Carlisle Hospital on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Born June 26, 1946, Paul served his country with honor in the United States Air Force and fought in the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his military service. After the Air Force, Paul attended York College and worked as a locomotive engineer for Conrail. Later in life, he worked in management roles at various local distribution companies. Paul was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed attending car shows with his hot rods.
Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Susan Herrold, his daughter Monica Fagan and son-in-law Joseph Fagan, his son Michael Herrold and daughter-in-law Sharon Herrold, his granddaughter Skyler Bell and grandson-in-law Devon Bell, his grandson Zachary Fagan, his two great grandchildren Fabi Berrune and Kinsleigh Bell, his twin sister Paulette Bailey, his brother Joseph Herrold, his sister Kaye Hines, and his sister Pat Rebuck. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Herrold and Fern Logan.
A visitation will be held Thursday February 5, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home 51 N. Enola Dr, Enola, PA 17025. Services begin following visitation at the funeral home. Paul will be buried at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery where a short graveside service will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
