Paul W. Schmidt, Jr, 77, of Eshcol, PA, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025 at Jefferson Bucks Hospital in Langhorne, PA.
Born November 5, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the oldest of six children of the late Paul W. Schmidt Sr. and Ursula (Rose) Schmidt. He is predeceased by Martha J. Schmidt, whom he married on July 15, 1967 and lost on May 13, 2019. He remarried (April 23, 2023) and is survived by Elaine Klose-Schmidt.
Paul was a proud US Navy Veteran who started his career during Vietnam and remained in as a Damage Control and Haul Technician, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer after 26 years. He was the definition of Tin Can Sailor! He then worked as a Draftsman designing bridges until his retirement. Paul enjoyed his bonsai trees, spending time with grandchildren, and as all who knew him knows, telling stories about his time in the Navy would be the highlight of his day.
He is survived by two brothers, Steve and Dan (Rhonda), and two sisters, Rose Marie and Mary Lou (Ken). He is predeceased by his brother Rich (Rosie).
Surviving are two sons, Paul (the late Kathleen), of Eschol, PA and Wade (Michelle) of Woodbury, NJ, and daughter, Kristan of Shermansdale, PA. Paul had four surviving grandchildren, Madalynne, Veronica, Brandon (Jennilee), Jennifer (James) and is predeceased by his grandson Joshua. He was also blessed with 10 great grandchildren (with another on the way!) and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 9:00AM-10:00AM with services from 10:00AM -11:00AM, graveside services with naval honors will be held directly after services at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, 7111 Wertzville Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
