Raymond Marion Dougherty, 89, of Enola passed away Monday, September 10th, 2018. Ray was born August 21, 1929 and was the son of the late Raymond Luther Dougherty and Gertrude Geneva (Lusk) Dougherty of York, PA.

He was a 1947 graduate of William Penn Senior High School in York PA. He was preceded in death by his wife Marlene Mae (Sipe) Dougherty in 2012.

Surviving are his beloved companion cat Maizie, his five children, Deborah Stailey and husband, Ron of Benton, AR, Dennis Dougherty and wife, Robyn of Winter Haven, FL, Diane Hoffman Bruder and late husband, Walt Bruder of Harrisburg, PA, David Dougherty and fiancĂ©’ Patricia Reynolds of Enola, PA and Denise Dougherty of Enola, PA. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Raymond was a master pressman and book binder for the U.S. Government with over 33 years’ service at Olmstead Air Force Base, Andrews Air Force Base and the Carlisle Army War College when he retired in 1984.

In addition, he was an accomplished dance roller skater and an automotive mechanic. He was a member of the Laurel Hose Company in York and a lifetime member of the New Cumberland Fire Department.

He was involved in many church activities and served God in various ministries throughout his life including the Greater Harrisburg Youth for Christ, Teen Challenge, Jesus Ministries, Creation Festivals, Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International and was an active member of River of God Church in Enola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to River of God Church, Enola.

A celebration of his life will be held at River of God Church, 747 Wertzville Road, Enola, PA 17025, from 5-6 pm on Thursday, September 20th, 2018. Service immediately following. Burial will be private.
