Raymond T. O’Keefe, 84, of Enola, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Hospice of Central PA.

Born in Philly, raised in Shipoke, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jeanette O’Keefe.

Better known as “Tom”, he is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol, his daughter Debra A. Wancho (wife of Robert) of Etters; sons James K. of Washington D.C., and Michael T. of Manhattan; his grandchildren Joseph and Jeffrey of Etters; his sisters Delores Slough of New Jersey and Elizabeth Maglioco of Philadelphia; and brother Robert of Rhode Island.

He is preceded in death by his sister Darlene, and brothers Joseph and Edward, all of Harrisburg.

Tom graduated from Harrisburg Catholic High in 1951, and served proudly in the U.S. Navy for 4 years.

He joined the Harrisburg Fire Dept. in 1959 and retired in 1995 with 36 years of service to the city. He achieved the rank of Battalion Chief in 1974, a position he held until his retirement.

He enjoyed watching Notre Dame football, spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories from his youth in Shipoke and his days at the Fire Department, golfing, and the time he met Joe Paterno at a snowed-in airport in Pittsburgh.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Grab and Fr. John Acri on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11AM. Visitation will be from 10AM-11AM on Friday at the church.

Internment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA 1320 Linglestown Rd. Harrisburg PA 17110.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the O’Keefe family.
