Robert T. Popielski, age 80, passed away Friday April 26, 2024, at home following an extended illness in hospice care.
Bob was born August 13, 1943, in Kane, PA and graduated from Kane High School. He went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry from Penn State University in 1965. Bob worked as a Forester for the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, retiring from the Tuscarora Forest District in 1998. Bob remained active with the Blain Lions Club after his retirement.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Cecelia Popielski. He is survived by his sister Judy Shields (husband Lee), and his three children Melissa Wileman (husband Greg), Janelle Goldberg {husband Steve), and James Popielski (wife Oka). Surviving grandchildren include Quinn Howell (husband Jesse), Elle McGowan {husband Stefan), Aidan Popielski, and great- grandchildren Charlotte, Hadleigh, Lawson, and Avery McGowan. Bob also leaves behind an aunt, niece, nephews, and many beloved friends.
Bob enjoyed all things outdoors including hunting, fishing, boating, and gathering firewood. He also enjoyed Penn State sports, casino trips, poker nights with his friends, and coin collecting. He will be remembered for his easy-going spirit and sense of humor.
As per Bob’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Blain Lion’s club in his honor- 130 W Main Street Blain, PA 17006.
A heartfelt thank-you to Bob’s care team from Grane Hospice and caregivers Deb, Ellen, and Quinn for the exceptional care both he and his family received.
