
Rufus G. Eshleman Sr, 97, of Enola went to his heavenly home on March 16, 2015 with his loved ones at his bedside.
He was born in Manada Gap on September 23, 1917, to Samuel and Ruth Runkel Eshleman. He was a longtime resident of Hershey and Enola. He was of the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Helen Spayde Eshleman; infant daughter Georgia Kay; Granddaughter Kendra S. Myers and brother, Robert Eshleman.
He is survived by sisters; Gladys Rhoades and Charlotte Erlich. He is also survived by his son Rufus G. Eshleman Jr, his wife Rosemary of Wiconisco; daughter Joyce A. Myers, her husband Melvin of Campbelltown and Karen Eshleman, of Mechanicsburg.
He also leaves behind Granddaughters: Janine Eshleman and Jennifer Field and Grandson Jeremy Eshleman. He will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews as well.
Rufus was married to Edna Eshleman for 18 years until the time of his death. They resided in Enola. He is survived by step-children: Ida, Enola; Edward, Shermansdale; and Eleanor of Enola.
Rufus graduated from Hershey High School in 1937 excelling in cabinet making. He volunteered for duty in the US Army and rose to the rank of Tech SGT in the Infantry/Calvary Division while serving in World War II. He was a very proud veteran who loved his country.
After his discharge, Rufus became employed with Hershey Estates at the extraction plant and pretreatment plant. After the Hershey Chocolate Acquisition of those facilities, he retired as a Technical Services Supervisor in 1982.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 0945, VFW Post 6704, the Enola Sportsman Association, Hunters Valley Sportsman Association and the Schaner Senior Center in Enola.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 9:30AM-10:30AM at the Sullivan Funeral Home, Enola.
Services will begin at 10:30AM.
Burial with full military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
