Russell E. Beckey, Jr., 79, of Mechanicsburg passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born in Middletown, PA, he was the son to the late Russell E. Beckey, Sr. and Irene (Keim) Murphy.
He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Cassin Young.
He was a member of the Mechanicsburg American Legion and was also a fast pitch softball pitcher during the war and in his civilian life.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching any kind of sports.
Russell was a retired carpenter, and during his retirement worked at the Giant Food Store as a bagger.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Enola.
Surviving is his wife, Cora A. Beckey; 2 children, Susan A. Beckey and Scott A. Beckey and wife Jodi; sister, Nancy Williams; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 10AM-11AM at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 4685 Mt. Zion Dr., Enola, PA 17025.
Services will begin at 11AM at the church.
Burial will be private.
