Sara L. “Betty” Vonderheid, 95, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Bridges of Bent Creek in Mechanicsburg, PA. 

Born on May 13, 1922 in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Miles and Frances (Potts) Lebengood.

Her husband, Herman Vonderheid, preceded her in death on June 10, 2008.

Betty was a 1940 graduate of Pottsville High School and a 1943 graduate of Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA. 

Mrs. Vonderheid was employed and retired as a school teacher after 27 years of service.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; the Daughters of the Civil War Union Veterans; the Pennsylvania State Educators Association; and was a member of the Lutheran faith for her entire life.

Betty is survived by one son, Charles Vonderheid and his wife Betsy of Annapolis, MD; one sister, Ruth Ann Leonard of Traverse City, MI; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marian Jefferies.

All Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Interment will take place at the Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 West Arch Street, Pottsville, PA 17901.
