It is with devastating grief and loss of breath that we announce the passing of Selby Shade Harter at the age of 26. A beloved father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. The world lost a young man fueled with passion and a heart that ultimately wanted a better world for his daughter and everyone else.
Selby passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, February 6th , 2020, in Camp Hill, PA.
Selby was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on July 19th, 1993. He leaves behind his 5-year-old daughter, Emma Grace; his mother, Amy Christie; siblings, Ella and Christian Harter; his father, Tim Christie and adoptive father, John Harter; surviving grandparents, Frank and Carol Craft, James and Jeannie Johnson, Rev. Doctor William B. Harter; lifetime hero & cheerleader, Johnathan Kuhn; girlfriend, Meghan Mairead, countless but very precious uncles, aunts, and cousins throughout the branches of his family; and many friends that he counted as family.
In addition to his love of his daughter, Selby lead a successful food-truck venture, “The Cheesy Tiki”. He was in the midst of opening its’ first permanent location before his untimely death. His ambition to make people happy through his love of cooking resulted in joyful homemade consumer research for friends and family. His love of music was a perfect combination for his budding food truck business in Pennsylvania’s music & art festival seasons. He found contentment and peace in his time spent with Emma, hiking the mountains, concerts, adventures, and relationships with people. Selby had many friends that he thought of as family. He had a strong presence, and everyone knew he loved his Meemaw. He was a good person with a deep heart whose short life touched many others.
While we begin to realize a new way of life without daddy/daughter dates, a big brother, a beloved son, loved family member and friend; the family invites you to his services on Wednesday, February 12th.
The celebration will be held at the Radisson Convention Center, North Ballroom, 1150 Camp Hill Bypass, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, 17011.
Visitation will be from 3-pm to 5:45pm, funeral service from 6-7pm, and reception from 7-8pm. All are welcome to pay their respects to Selby, show comfort to his family, and recognize his short time with us.
In lieu of flowers, if you feel so moved, donations can be made to a scholarship fund set up for Selby’s daughter through Members 1st, Emma Harter Scholarship, 392 East Penn Drive, Enola, PA, 17025.
