Viktor Schimko gently passed away at his home in Harrisburg, PA, on December 30, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife, Diana, along with several family members and friends.
He was born April 3, 1949 in Ulm, Germany and is predeceased by his father, Konstantin Schimko, and mother, Erika (Krentz) Schimko. In addition to his wife, Diana, he is survived by his sisters, Anna and husband, Wasyl, from Rochester, NY, and Nadia Browne from Saratoga Springs, NY, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and devoted friend, Marianne Hansen.
Viktor was a very gentle, loving, kind and generous husband, brother, uncle and friend always reaching out to help or lend a hand. He had a warm, subtle sense of humor with an infectious laugh. He was a humble man whom was an active member of his Church with a strong faith that never waivered even through the most recent trials and tribulations being an example to us all. He worked in many occupations and after retirement discovered his most beloved career in real estate that both fulfilled his love of people as well as allowing him to help them at the same time. In his spare time, he enjoyed fooseball, reading, skiing being more recently rediscovered and also thoroughly enjoying spending time boating on the river.
Visitation will be held at the Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, 7111 Wertzville Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA, on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 5 to 7 PM with a Memorial Service at 7 PM and Wednesday, January 3, 2018 with visitation from 1 to 2 PM and funeral services beginning at 2 PM.
