
Wilbur Lee Fake Sr., age 89 of Enola, died on January 5, 2016. He was born in Enola on March 7, 1926 to the late Eva (Morris) Fake and Harvey Timothy Fake. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 65 years, Delphine Lillian (Custer) Fake, and the loving family they created together. He is also survived by brothers, Robert Fake and Donald Fake, a sister Dorothy Bryson, and many friends and extended family.
Wilbur graduated from Enola High School. He served active duty from 1943-1946 with the 2nd Marine Division in the South Pacific during World War II. A hard worker all his life, following his military service, Wilbur began his career with the Pennsylvania Railroad and later worked in heavy construction for many years until he retired in 1990.
Wilbur enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, especially hunting with his family and taking vacations every summer to the beach. He could often be found picking raspberries in his field and holding hands with his sweetheart, Delphine, on their swing. He always made those around him laugh with his wit and humor. Most of all, he was a man who valued family deeply. He delighted in spending time with his children on a regular basis (all 10 of them and their spouses), relished time with his 17 grandchildren, and loved the 7 great grandkids.
Wilbur is remembered by his loving family including his wife Delphine and their children: Cathy Kime (husband Doug), Vicky Weldon (husband Don), Carol Weigher (husband Jim), Linda Stannert (husband Bill), Wilbur Fake Jr. (wife Jodi), Steve Fake (wife Sue), Mary Johnson (husband Dave), Michael Fake (wife Susan), Mark Fake, and Karen Saussaman (husband George).
He was loved by his grandchildren: Lucy Rose, Carisa Kozicki, Carla Crowen, Jama Muschara, Wilbur S. Fake, Melinda Fake, Cayce Orner, Jenna Brnik, Ashley Roenigk, Andrea Morgan, Brant Stannert, Kurt Kime, Katherine Shoemaker, Alyssa Fake, Benjamin Fake, Corey Fake, and Sarah Fake.
Wilbur took great joy in the great-grandchildren including: Noah, Wilbur L., Sullyvan, Maddox, Emerson, Grady, and Bryce.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Walter, and Harold, and his sisters Mildred, Mary, and Eva.
Wilbur, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa will be remembered for his benevolence and big heart, his generosity of spirit, his sparkling blue eyes, his infectious laugh and his dedication to his family.
A viewing will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home, 51 N. Enola Drive on Monday, January 11 from 6-7pm. Service will be held Tuesday, January 12 at the Enola First Church of God 9 Sherwood Dr. Enola PA 17025 with a visitation at 10:30am, followed by service at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Ft. Indiantown Gap with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the local
Diabetes foundation.
