With profound sorrow, we announce that Elaine Mae (Beckhorn) Hernandez was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the age of 61. She passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her home.
Elaine was born on July 27, 1963, to William and Doris (Lang) Beckhorn in Elmira, NY. She was a proud graduate of Elmira Southside High School, Class of 1982, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Rafael Angel Hernandez, on July 31, 1982. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and memories.
Elaine retired from PHEAA after a successful career, and in her retirement, she enjoyed simple pleasures. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, and had a deep love for writing. Her passion for scented candles brought warmth and comfort to her home, making it a peaceful retreat for those who visited. Above all, Elaine cherished the time spent with her beloved grandson, Chance. Their bond was special—she was his “Layla,” and the joy they shared in reading, playing, and solving puzzles together will forever remain in our hearts.
Elaine was also the twin sister of Eileen (Tracy Best) Best of Indianapolis, and their bond was like no other. Together, they shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and a deep, unspoken connection. Elaine’s quirky sense of humor brought joy to everyone around her, and her laughter will be remembered with fondness.
Elaine’s family was her greatest treasure, and she leaves behind a legacy of love. She is survived by her devoted husband of over 42 years, Rafael Angel Hernandez; her son, Chandler Angel Hernandez; her grandson, Chance Angel Hernandez; her sister, Eileen (Tracy Best) Best of Indianapolis; and her dear friend and neighbor, Steven Devanie. She was also loved by many other extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 51 North Enola Drive, Enola, PA 1725.
Following the service, all family and friends are warmly invited to join us in a gathering to honor Elaine’s memory at the Enola Fire Hall, 118 Chester Rd., Enola, PA 17025 where we will share stories, laughter, and love in her honor.
Elaine will be deeply missed, but her spirit, her love, and the memories she created will remain in our hearts forever.

I had the great pleasure of working with Elaine at Pet Valu in Enola. She was a very special lady. Had a lot of fun working together. She will always be remembered.
