John A. Henry, 85, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, with his beloved wife, Betty, by his side.
Born on September 25, 1940, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, John was the son of the late Roy W. Henry and Marian Forsythe Henry. A lifelong resident of the Harrisburg area, he graduated from William Penn High School with the Class of 1958.
John dedicated his entire working career to the meat-cutting profession, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft. He retired in 2018 after many years of faithful service.
John found his greatest joy in spending time outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and golfing, and he rarely missed the opportunity to watch a baseball or football game. He was a devoted fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Redskins, faithfully cheering on his favorite teams throughout the years.
Above all, John treasured his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy W. and Marian Forsythe Henry, and his daughters, Pamela (Henry) Miller and Kathy Henry.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Betty M. Henry; his brother, Ted Henry (Barbara); his sons, John K. Henry (Deneen), Jeffrey Henry (Karen), Christopher J. Henry (Morgan), Stephen J. Smith (Sabrina), and Jason R. Smith. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish his memory and the love he shared with them.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Homeland at Home Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided during John’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Homeland at Home Hospice.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
John will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
