
John W. “Chico” Gingrich, 74, passed away on March 7, 2025, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Born on August 3, 1950, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, John was a proud graduate of East Pennsboro High School, class of 1969. He was a Vietnam veteran who honorably served his country in the United States Navy.
John had a passion for coaching youth competitive shooting teams for Cumberland County 4-H Sharpshooters and Mechanicsburg Sportsman Club. He also enjoyed hunting with his children. This brought him great joy throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Gingrich; children, Steph (Phil) Lehman; John C. Gingrich; PJ (Donny) Haldeman; Lara (Dan) Riland; Ellen Gingrich; Jesse Hummel; Megan Hummel; grandchildren Jordan, Kari, and Austin Lehman; Brant Robertson; Davin, Cole, Zethrin, Ian, and Evan Haldeman; Johnathan and Rylan Gingrich; Kale, Liam, and Maverick Riland; Bee Harvey and Lillian Hummel; Nora, Nevin, and Logan Stains; great grandchildren Fallyn Robertson and Eleanor Haldeman; sisters Jackie (Larry) Wilson and Deb (Bill) Pitzer; nephews, Larry II, Jeff, Will and Ryan
He was preceded in death by his son, John W. Gingrich Jr.; his parents John and Patricia Gingrich and his grandson, Ransin Haldeman.
Viewing will be held on March 14, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Summerdale United Methodist Church, located at 203 2nd St., Summerdale, Pennsylvania. A Memorial Service will follow at the same location starting at 11:30 AM. Burial will be held at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill immediately following the services.

I was associated with John with through C. G. C. and cowboy action shooting at the indoor range. He wes responsible for setting up the canteen as a fund raiser for the kids rifle team. He will be greatly missed a great mentor for the kids and as a friend.
