Susan (Sue) Duetta Bretz, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on 7 June 2020 while residing at Harmony at West Shore

She was the daughter of the late David Sr. and Bertha (Blust) Bretz.  Sue is survived by her younger brother, David (Davy) Bretz, Jr.  She is also survived by her daughter, Michelle (Shelli) Spencer, her two grandsons, Patrick and Eric Sheibley and his wife, Paige Sheibley, along with two great-grandsons, James Lazar and Gavin Sheibley.

She was a graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) and retired as a federal employee from the Naval Support Activity in Mechanicsburg.   In her spare time, Sue enjoyed playing golf, racquetball, tennis, and watching wrestling.  She also enjoyed going to the beach, painting, and going to church.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons. She loved going to their baseball and football games, and was always an integral part of their lives.

A viewing will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home, Enola, PA on 11 June 2020 at 10AM with a service in her honor beginning at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions go to https://www.vhl.org/ supporting research, education, and advanced treatment options for those with Von Hipple-Lindau disease or Mount Zion United Methodist Church, http://mountzionumc.org/.

The Sullivan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bretz family.

  1. We’ve have been neighbors with Sue for over 30 years and will greatly miss our neighborly conversations. She was always there for us and visa versa if needed. Sue and Patty were schoolmates in the early years before Sue left East Pennsboro for Cumberland Valley. Our thoughts and prayers to the family.

  2. I met Susan when i was still on school and was best friend’s with her daughter Michelle. She was a hard working strong independent women and her daughter and her parents were her first priority. She will be missed by all who new her. She is at peace now and isn’t suffering anymore. Love and prayers to Michelle and the family.

  3. I met Sue when she came to Harmony West Shore. She was a very nice lady and funny too. I liked to joke around with her during her time at Harmony. I was very sad to hear of her passing. She will be dearly missed.
