Share Obituary!

Thomas W. (Tom) Ford, 45, of Marysville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 14th, 2024.  Born Thursday, September 20, 1979, in Huntingdon, PA. He was the son of Joel and Linda Ford of Three Springs, PA. He is pre-deceased by his grandparents Earl and Inez Ford, William (Bill Thomas); great-grandparents Kathryn and Edward Cutshall, L. Paul Fleck & Estella Fleck.

He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Jennifer Ford; a sister Lindsay (Cyntelle) Northern, a brother, Jeff (Brenda) Ford, and three nephews Ethan Ford, Thomas Canfield and Dylan Canfield. Tom is survived by two loving children, a daughter, Lillie Ford, and a son Alex Ford. Words cannot begin to describe the amount of love and pride that he had for his children. They were the light of his life and his greatest motivating force.

Those that knew Tom, knew that he was one of tremendous generosity. He would give you the shirt off his back, and three from his closet for good measure. He was thoughtful, kind and will be deeply missed by his extended family, in-laws, friends, and families he has served throughout the years.

Tom graduated from Southern Huntingdon High School in 1998. He attended Penn State Altoona and received his associates degree. He continued his education and graduated magna cum laude from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 2002. After passing the State and National Boards, he spent the following 21 years working as a licensed funeral director and serving as a supervisor for funeral homes in Lancaster, Lebanon, and Dauphin counties. In 2023, Tom achieved his lifelong dream of owning his own funeral home by purchasing the Michael J. Shalonis Funeral Home in Marysville, PA.

Tom was an active member in several organizations, including the Perry Lodge #458 in Marysville, PA, the Marysville Sportsmen’s Association and the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association. He had a love for the New York Yankees and was beyond thrilled they made it to the World Series this year. He greatly enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and the annual Ford Fourth of July festivities at his childhood home in Three Springs, PA. He was a mafia and organized crime aficionado and collector.

A public Funeral will be held Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 at noon at Enola Church of God, 9 Sherwood Drive, Enola, PA 17025. A time of visitation will be held from 10am until the time of the service. Interment will be at Perry Heights Cemetery, Marysville, PA 17053. A luncheon will follow the graveside at the Enola Church of God; where friends, family and all those who were touched by Tom will have an opportunity to share.

The Shalonis Funeral Home and the Sullivan Funeral Home are honored to serve the Ford family.

  7. My Tommy was a childhood friend of my son’s and I loved every time he graced our home with his wit and humor. He was one that never quit no matter what he was doing. He was like another son in our home. He’s with his Maker and we will go to him one day. Love and hugs and prayers to his wife and family.

  8. Tom was such a force of intelligence, charisma, creativity and unmatched comedic timing. I failed to keep up with him in high school but it sure was worth trying. He set the bar high but not once would he look down from it on anybody. His compassion was real and so was his word. Tom was someone you could believe.

  9. Jenn, Lillie and Alex,
I extend to you my most heartfelt sympathy at this most difficult time. I assisted Tom with funerals at another funeral home and I can tell you he was well loved by the families he served. I feel blessed to have known Tom and was very proud of the way he cared for Lillie and Alex and then Jenn came into his life and made him very happy.
May God be with you and grant you the strength to move forward. Treasure the good times and how
    much he loved you!

  17. I was a local pastor n Lancaster County wnen Tom was a funeral director there. We worked together providing many services to those in grief. He was very caring and generous. He was a dear friend who will be sorely missed.

  18. Not enough can be said about Tom, he helped with arrangements when my son Adam passed away 11 years ago and my Mother last year. I know that he is in Glory and I pray for every family member. Tom not only a great friend but a cousin of mine, he graduated high school with my son Andy and many stories can be told. I’m sure he and Adam already caught up on the other and are waiting for us. 19. Tom, you have always been a light for me and a friend when I needed one. You were always there when we needed you when my dad passed away and then when my mom passed away. You always made me see that death was not the end, but just the step to the next level that was waiting on the other side of the gates. You were always there for me when I would need someone to talk to and would make the whole process a little easier. May God’s eternal light shine on to you and make you into one of his angels where you will serve him best. Until we meet again take care and shine bright.

  20. Tom,
    I’m at loss for words.
A long time family friend as well as our funeral director.
What an absolute honor it was to have you as part of our lives… and even through our darkest time’s, your personality and wit always somehow still made us laugh through “ugly crying” as you would put it. You were an absolute “one of a kind” kinda man.

I’m definitely “ugly crying” Tom! We love you.

My deepest condolences and sympathy to your family and friends 💔

  21. My deepest condolences, prayers, and all of my love to the entire Ford family.
    Psalm 147:3 ♥️

  22. Tom was our Funeral director and a friend. Not many people can put a smile on someone’s face during life’s most Difficult times, Tom could. Tom helped our family more than he even had to. My deepest condolences and sympathy to the family.

  23. To Tom’s children, wife, and family, you have my deepest condolences. I am completely speechless. Tom saw my family through our worst days! My husband Michael, my son Dakota, my father & my mother’s deaths. Even in our darkest days Tom still found a way to make us laugh and comfort us. He was always there for a hug a laugh or a good cry! May his laughter always fill your memories and his love always fill your hearts!

  24. Our hearts are broken. Tom was one of our son’s best friends. They attended the same church, played basketball together and graduated the same year. Tom spent many days at our home and was considered one of the family. He will be missed but remembered with
    love. Rest in peace Tom.

  25. I met Tom when he worked in Lancaster. We became friends immediately. We would reference Tombstone and Step Brothers. He was one of my closest friends. I’m sorry I never made it to Marysville to see his dream come true. I will miss our conversations deeply. One of the best men I’ve ever known.

  26. I worked with Tom for many years as a manager at Royer’s Flowers. He took care of many families with thoughtfulness and great care. We always could share a laugh and talk about our families, It was a pleasure to know him. He will be missed.

  27. Jen and Family,
We are so sad to hear about Thomas. He has been in my thoughts throughout the past few days. Although, we have only interacted with him on a professional basis, we soon found out how caring and thoughtful he was. My heart breaks for Jen, Lillie, Alex, his entire family and friends. May they find comfort in all the wonderful memories they shared with him.

  28. Tom, where is my family called him Carl to do a bad cell phone connection, was a tremendous man and amazing at his job. His ability to put everyone at ease and be as professional as you could imagine was above others. We had many encounters with him in his professional life, and then we became friends, he will be deeply missed. My heart fell condolences go out to his entire family, his wife, his kids.
